Angela Evangeline Kwan

Hi, I'm Angela Evangeline Kwan, more affectionately known as gel and lala. I was born on 27th February 1991. My hobbies include playing the piano, singing, songwriting, baking and shopping. My dream? To start a family, be a loving and understanding wife, an inspiring and authoritative mother, a filial and obedient daughter. Oh, and perhaps to sing the songs that I've written or maybe start some bakery cafe.

From another perspective ☆ 2011/12/20

In the recent spate of the breakdowns of trains causing frustration, anger and inconvenience to those affected directly or indirectly, many have responded by voicing out their dissent that the trains should be non-faulty at all times. However, it occured to me yesterday when I was chatting with my junior about the incident that it was truly a blessing for us to have the train system. My junior told me about her friend who had to leave home in the east at 5 on Sunday to take buses to her workplace in the central as the train services were disrupted to conduct a thorough check. Her friend spent a few hours on the buses. I'm certain that most people have yet to see from this perspective, that the train system has made our commute more convenient with each passing day. However, I've yet to see newspaper headlines about such matters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've not seen anything along the lines of "Commuters appreciates Land Transport Authority for train services". All I've seen these days are "Trains breakdown again" and "Outrage at train breakdown".

It's quite saddening to know that outrage, dissent and anger has clouded people's perspective of the world. Perhaps, if I'm affected, I too might feel angry and not see from this perspective at all. I think that this could be the result of not being contented. In this fast-paced and high-tech society, there seems to be no room for errors. A slight mistake could lead to a whole facebook page dedicated to one or yet another posting on stomp or a video uploaded on youtube. Where has tolerance gone to? Why use harsh and crude words to express one's emotions instead of a more refined and neutral tone? These are some things I don't understand about society these days. Is it the upbringing? A flaw in family upbringing? A flaw in the education system? Or a flaw encoded in one's DNA and passed down to other generations? Or perhaps the advancement in technology which has led to all these?

Would we have more if we had less?

--------
To benefit those who didn't understand the last sentence, "would we have more if we had less" subtly (now it's explicit) implies would we have more joy if we had less superficial articles.
