Thank you! Part 4 =) ☆ 2012/03/02 Ytd I had salsa prac and my salsa frens celebrated my bday =) It's really cool cos Darren came with a cupcake and a candle so I thought that was all and thanked them all nicely. Then Kangrui present the birthday card and a music box. After more dancingm Cherie came with a Swensen's ice cream cake =) So sweet of them~ Thanks guys =) It's really great and thanks for making it memorable for me, including the bday dance =)Brownie with cream cheese frosting and raspberry. Thanks DARREN =) It was really delicious =) Balloon from CHERIE which she got while getting the cake. Music box.. erms, I'm not sure exactly who it's from though.. KANGRUI and CHERIE? The card with the meme design's from DARREN! Haha~ It was so cute and so was the message in it which was something about me using puppy eyes and how he needs to get sunglasses now.. Domo kun card which KANGRUI made. He said he spent 6 hrs making it. Thanks so much =) It's really cute and the mouth can move~ Thanks to all those who wrote on the card too =) I guess this is the last part of my 21st bday celebration. Thanks guys, families and friends for making my 21st so special =) I love you guys =)
Thank you! Part 3 =) ☆ 2012/02/28 More surprises today =) GEK lecture was pretty interesting and they had a surprise attendance taking. See Daelus! Told you to wake up early today.. After which, Cindy and I rushed back to science for 2213 mid terms. I thought I had 1hr 15 mins to do so I rushed through it and finished most of the questions except for the super long proving question in abt 45 mins (in pencil). Spent about 20 mins proving the question (proved halfway in pencil before writing everything in pen). Realised, the test was 1 hr 50 min instead so took my time to rewrite everything else in pen while checking my solutions. So glad that I checked cos I had some computational error like 6 +3/2 = 13/2 o.O and there was some binary conversion where I had 6/7 *2 = 2/7 r1 (for the binary part) when it was supposed to be 12/7 = 5/7 r1. Pretty glad that the paper wasn't too tough so I hope to do reasonably for it. If there's any module which I can possibly score better, I think it would be this one. Rushed off for SS tut afterwards. Met Tong after SS tut and received a lovely surprise in pink =) Paris-themed nail polish with nail stickers, sachet of hair treatment and pink cotton candy from TONG =) It's all so pretty and pink~ I think I'll use it next week when I do my french-inspired outfit. Can't do it tmr cos the rain skirt's in the wash so I guess I'll go for the japanese-mama look tmr, since my crochet top is out of the wash =) And this came by surprise in the mail. Recognized the envelope at first glance that it's from SHU =) Cos she always put "Thanks Mr Postman!" at the front of the envelope =) It's so pink and pretty and bling bling~ Thanks so much Shu~ And nail polish and card from my BRO. Sneaky little fella.. Hid it in his drawer while he was in army and I thought he wouldn't get me nail polish cos he always complains abt the smell. Thought he would get me something from Muji or what that doesn't have nail polish smell =p
Thank you! Part 2 ☆ 2012/02/27 Had school today but it's a pretty great day. Started with Jap tut which was fun as usual =) Then lunch with Chueh Chin and Yilin =) Then 3110 lecture which was surprisingly shorter today. Ended at 3:29 instead of 3:40 =) However, the content was as perplexing and complex. Drew various circles and wavy lines but I'm pretty sure I don't understand what I copied off the OHP and board. Had 2213 tut which only had 4 students but the TA was kind enough to still conduct tutorial and went through all the solutions (esp since THE SOLUTIONS HAD ERRORS IN THEM!) Munching on the lollipop which Huacen and Gabriel korkor gave ytd. It's really sweet and chewy =) Yummy~ And taking pics with Cindy cos I didn't take any pics with her for my bday. Oh no, I just rmb-ed, I didn't take any pics with Cheng or Ryan either.. Dinner with Ryan at EWF @ Holland V. My spaghetti but I found it a little salted. Garlic and herbs fries =) Ryan's tandori chicken sandwich and curry fries =) We shared a nutella tart. When Ryan first entered, he said "I want the nutella tart!" Haha~ It's really sinfully rich in chocolate and delicious =) Apple crumble which wasn't as good. Quite filling cos of the tart base and the apples were thinly sliced instead of in chunks like FFT's. Ryan's verdict: Next time, we're only getting apple crumble from FFT. He didn't like the cinnamon taste in this one. Felt quite bad for not finishing it... Let's go FFT again, next time. Haven't been there in a while =) Note book from RYAN =) It's got a lovely message in it, signed off with Carpe Diem =) Thanks for everything, Ryan =) Dinner, ride and all~ And a pleasant surprise from SHUYUN! A pic of her holding a note for me =) Aww.. So sweet right? Shu's been my BFF since P1~ We used to write letters to each other, write poetry, read Mary-Kate and Ashley books =) Hey Shu, rmb this? I still have it and it's still unused =) Got it for my 14th bday =) Couldn't bear to use it.
Thank you! Part 1 =) ☆ 2012/02/26 Just had my 21st bday party today! Had my relatives from maternal and paternal side which was ard 40+ today since some of them weren't able to turn up. It was rather nice to have my first birthday party and I think my mom spent a lot of time trying to find a venue so that my party will be grand and pretty too. Had it at Furama City Centre, Tiffany Cafe. It was a buffet lunch and most people arrived ard 12+. Some of the pics are not very sharp so I'm just gonna post the sharper ones which I took. My dad took the others and it's a sign that I should get a better camera. Thank you to all my friends and family for the gifts and ang pows =) Early Bday present from CINDY =) It's really nice of her to give it to me on Tuesday when we met to watch Spring Awakening. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting anything from her and this is a lovely surprise. The card is so colourful and shiny =) When I opened the present, I saw the pink bling bling pouch and in it were more surprises. The handphone pouch's really really practical! My domokun pouch had a stuck zip and I was thinking of getting another one to replace it and now I've a new pink one with the bling bling teddy =) Another surprise present from my beloved junior, CHUA =) Didn't expect it until she told me she wanted to pass me something for my bday. Met her for lunch and ice cream ytd. It's so pretty and elegant =) Heheh~ Gonna wear it tmr =) Thanks Chua~ Bouquet and a box of origami roses from CHENG~ Thanks for taking time off your busy schedule to attend my party, especially since you had to rush down after your meeting. It's really lovely and the origami roses have words in them. I did try to open one of the pink ones to have a look but half way through, I decided against it since I didn't know how to fold them back. Super artistic, unique, one-of-a-kind box thingy from XINYING~ I think she spent a lot of time beautifying it with patterned flowers, designer paper, stamps and bits and pieces~ Of course, she was really eager to post her latest masterpiece on fb too =) It's really really really amazing =) Moroccan Rose gift set from RAD~ Thanks Raddy~ I'll think of you when I use the perfume now =p The best thing is it smells good too, along with the fact that it's pink and the box is really pretty =) Red flare skirt and blue belt from MEL~ It's really amazing and it fits nicely =) I was thinking of dressing french-inspired on Wed for class and I think this might be good =) Even borrowed a black cap thingy from my bro (since he's not using it) to complete the look =p Lollipop and Miss Dior perfume from GABRIEL KORKOR and HUACEN~ It's so pretty and smells really good too~ Yay~ Another perfume to my collection and it's really apt, especially since I'm about to finish Faerie. Fairy earrings with little crystals and a purple hairband from CAIT and CHEL~ It's so pretty that I had to wear the earrings now =) Something from my wishlist =p Plus the card is really pretty too~ Thanks so much to my toilet mates =) Reese and card from RON~ One of my favourite chocolate snacks =) The card also had a meaningful message written. Thanks biobuddy for coming today and listening to all my rants and such over the years =) Peppermint gift set from JOEL and ELSA~ It's got the minty smell when I first opened it and it'll be good to immerse my feet into after my dance practices =) Yay~ I'll get pretty feet soon =p L'occitane en Provence hand cream from UNCLE GERRY and AUNT JOANNA~ It's a set of 6 hand creams so I guess that'll last me quite a while =) It has 3 different flavours too =) Haven't smelt them though, cos I'm still using the Cherie scented one from Christmas but I think it'll smell really really great~ Perllini bag from KIA~ Thanks so much Kiakia~ It's pretty and big enough to put my Jap books for school =p I'll probably try and see if I can actually use it for school =) Thanks for being my best friend for all these years! I've been ranting a lot to you too. About lots of things, including Ben. Thanks for encouraging me and giving me emotional support, especially during those years =) And, you were absolutely right about your onii-chan. Coach wristlet from RACHEL JIEJIE and VANESSA JIEJIE~ Thanks =) Hurray~ My first piece of Coach item. It's so lovely =) Thanks for always bringing me out whenever I visit your place. To various places like massages, mani, hair, movies, shopping =) Card and multi-functional pouch from AUNT ANNE~ The pouch's really cool cos I can use it as a wristlet or as a small handbag or just as it is. It's really shiny too, though the photo doesn't reflect that fact well. Card from GRACE, DANIEL KORKOR and GABRIEL KORKOR~ Cute teddy bears with meaningful message inside =) Card from UNCLE SIMON & FAMILY~ Card from VENICE and VANESSA~ It's so pretty and hand-drawn =) Group pic with my friends. Cheng's not in the photo cos he kinda came after I cut the cake.. Back row (L to R): Cait, Ron, Rad, Chel, Mel, Xinying Front row (L to R): Kia, Me Thanks for coming and sharing my joy with me =) Love you guys =) Ok, not the romantic way but yea, you get it =) Cake's Berry Berries from Flor patissiere. It's my favourite place to get bday cakes. I think I'm gonna get my bday cakes from them next time too. I've been having Japanese strawberry cake since I was erms.. 17 or 18. I know I had one from Bakerzin, Rive Gauche and Flor for the past few years, prior to this bigger one.
Photos and more ☆ 2012/02/13 These few days have been tiring and busy for me, especially since I have performances this weekend. Every few days I have dance practices and on the days I don't, I'll either prepare for TA duty, give tuition or rush assignments and projects. I just need to finish Jap project by wed, ma2 tut and asg by thurs and na1 asg by friday and I'll be so glad. On the bright side, it'll be recess week~ Hurray~ I wanted to take a short trip to Batam or something, but we'll see if I've time. So, till then, it's just pics after pics. My new salsa shoes. They're 3.3 inches and definitely not the original ones I wanted but the shipment would be delayed cos of CNY so the lady offered us whatever she's left of her stock instead. Pretty nice of her. It was really tight initially but it's getting better =)Last super good meal with my bro and family before bro enters army. Dined at Kuishinbo =p Actually I ponned na1 lecture for it on the last tues of Jan. Love the food =) The prawns (the only seafood I eat there) was so fresh that I had 3 pieces. Love the salads too and especially the desserts. I love these bite-sized cakes =) Perhaps I should investigate on making petite four. Attempt at making green tea flavored konnyaku jelly. Tong made some green tea jelly the other day and I thought it was great so I tried my hand at it. Seemed a bit different but I'll try again another time. Baked for Valenetine's day for p-team and my lovely friends =) Hearts with chips are for the females and pink icing with chips are for male p-team. Can't afford to have any miscommunication cos it'll just bring me unnecessary trouble. Was telling them it was giri, especially for the guys and KR was like "What's giri?" Me:「ぎり」は友達だけ、「ほんめい」は好きな人のチョコレート。 To which, Daelus jokingly said 'Aww, 心碎了'. Hahahaha~ I like the p-team. They're nice ppl too =)
Just these days in a glance ☆ 2012/02/02 Firstly, to the one who I'm now unable to convey birthday wishes annually due to unforeseen circumstances, Happy Birthday. As you mature this year, I hope you'll also be more joyful and happier.Secondly, Ryan's back from Hokkaido! He went there for cny hols and we had lunch/brunch at Newton Market on Sunday after he returned. Quite nice of him to drive us there though he was in a hurry to go off after that. I had to go home early too. After which, Mel and I collected our dance shoes =) So happy. They're pretty and really high. 3.3inch =.= But we had to make do with it cos the factory was closed for cny and we couldn't get our shoes before the performance. Gathering at Ben's place was rather interesting. Mel, Tong, Marilyn and I all brought desserts, namely, jelly hearts, jelly, cheesecake and panna cotta. Haha~ It was like dessert buffet-cum-steamboat thing. We all have plenty of joy and laughter and it was a really good evening. Went home rather late but oh wells. Thirdly, I've been tired these days doing work, preparing for classes, conducting lab, marking assignments, rehearsing for performance. We've more or less finalized partners for the performance. Of course, there were people who were happy and those who were not so happy with the arrangements and the neutral mixed feelings ones. Me? I'm just mixed feelings. It's not too bad cos someone has to do this. Perhaps it's jsut excuses to make me more accepting? There's only that many senior guys and this many senior girls. In a way, I'm pretty glad I didn't have to do guy's footwork, though I'm not able to dance with my preferred partner. However, that wasn't my priority. I'm pretty glad that my priority was satisfied so it's pretty ok =) Just to settle the partner issues now with the rest who are not too happy/mixed feelings. On another note, I dislike being termed 'talented' and would prefer being called 'have the ability to ...'. However, in recent days, I think even the mere thought of having the ability to do something is very scary. I think my willingness in doing some things and ability to do them has probably led to all these? Cos for salsa, I learnt to do the guys' part, especially the first part of the choreography so that I could lead the girls to do it so they have more opportunities to practise with a partner and I almost had to be a guy for the lack of guys. People always say I'm talented cos I can do the guys' part but it's not a talent, it's not even an ability that I like that much as I have to do the guys part if there's not enough guys and girls don't want to learn the guys part. I need to thank Daelus for insisting on me doing the girls' part cos if he hadn't, I might just be doing the guys' part for the performance. Also, for sat, there was a severe shortage of guys at intermediate class so I offered to be guy under Elliot's suggestion too. I didn't really mind it that much as the girls, but me, will get to practise. I guess I don't need that much practise cos I usually autopilot pretty well. So after I danced with Mel, I rotated to Liting and she was like "Hey Guy" to which, I told her it's not like I wanted to be guy. I want to be a girl! I want to do the girls' part and look good like all girls. I want to shine too! But what can I do when there's a sever shortage of guys and I'm the only girl who can and partially willing to do it? True, it might not be much of a difference if I'm the girl cos there's so many girls anyway, but to me, the other new girls will have one more person to practise with. Which is why I'm in a hate/love relationship with this ability of mine. It's not a good thing and neither is it that bad an ability. Which is also why I can't find a more competent guy than me. Perhaps it's just better for me not to drive so that there's at least one area in which a guy can be more competent than me... Imagine if I had to keep driving a guy ard cos he can't drive. As a friend, I probably won't mind that much, but as a lifelong partner, I think I want a more competent one. It's almost like for once, I just want to be the sparkling accessory of a sparkling guy who is financially, socially, emotionally, spiritually stable. As materialistic as it may be, I just want a good life, dependable husband, a family of my own.. True, Ryan drives pretty much every time we go out for meals these days since he got his license and I do think that I may get complacent and take it for granted if we always do that. It'll build this expectation of "going out with Ryan means he'll drive" which I don't want. It's nice to travel in a car especially to remote and hard to access places. It's nice to eat at fancy places which I've not tried before. It sounds materialistic, yet as a person in reality, I have to be like this. I can't say I'm not materialistic at all and that I don't mind any guy. It's against my integrity. I think I might be better off on the shelf.. Reluctantly.
Beware of your email account ☆ 2012/01/26 This is just to warn those who read my blog about their email accounts as my dad has recently fallen prey to individual/s with ulterior motives, who either think that hacking email accounts is an achievement of sorts or have a misinterpretation of right and wrong. So, do take note of these people with ulterior motives. As much as I wish to believe that all people are good, kind, caring and all, reality hurts as people who are not, unfortunately, exist on Earth. While you do become more cautious about these group/s of individuals, allow me to correct all typos and grammatical errors found in the fabricated email. The linguistics part of me got the better of me.--- The email. Everything in brackets and red are my interpretation of how it should be grammatically --- I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now. (This sentence is too long. Hello? How can you have so many conjunctions in one sentence. Moreover, you had 2 'because' and 1 'but'. Would be better to shortened it to two sentence and not be overly ambitious. Besides, "it's because of the situation of things right now" is not grammatically correct. It should either be "it's because of the way things are right now" or "it's because of the situation now". Grr.. It irritates me that people can't be linguistically correct!) I’m with family on vacation in Philippine, I know I didn't mention anything about it to you but we are in trouble,we got mugged last night in an alley by a gang of thugs on our way back from shopping, one of them had a knife poking my neck for almost two minutes and everything we had on us including my cell phone, credit cards were all stolen, quite honestly it was beyond a dreadful experience for us but looking on the bright side we weren't seriously hurt or injured and we are still alive so that is whats important. (Hello?!?! How can you have this sentence which is this long, connected by numerous commas and merely 1 fullstop? Change every comma to a fullstop! Moreover, "we got" is so singlish and grammatically incorrect. It should be "we were". Also, "knife poking my neck" just sounds weird. Please change it to "knife at my neck". "including my cellphone, credit cards" should be changed to "including my cellphone and credit cards". By the way, locals here rarely use mobile or cellphones. The common word now is handphone or iphone. "quite honestly" is grammatically wrong too as "quite" is redundant. "we are still alive" is also redundant. "whats" should be "what's". Where's your aprostrophe?) I've reported to the cops here and canceled all our cards,it appeared I had acted quickly enough or they almost would have succeeded in cleaning out my bank account. I'm really having some difficulties clearing our hotel bills and also need to pick up a voucher ticket at the counter for us to catch a flight back home as soon as possible. (Culturally-challenged person... We rarely use "cops" here and the more commonly used word is "police". Besides, "cops" is so informal!. "canceled" should be spelt "cancelled". "it appeared I" should be "it appeared that I". Besides, who in the right frame of mind would use "it appeared"? "it seems" is the more commonly used one here. "almost would have" should be "would have". There's a missing "in" between "difficulties" and "clearing". "clearing our hotel bills" is not the commonly used phrase here. It should be "paying for hotel bills". "pick up" sounds too casual to me. It's like going to to grocer or supermarket as we call it here, to get some groceries. "get" would be more acceptable to me.) All we need right now is $1850.00, but anything you can spare pending when we get things straighten out will be appreciated and I promise to refund as soon as we arrive home safely. (People here are not to fluent in using "spare pending..". The usual choice of words would be "spare while we..") --- End of email --- Now for my concluding comments, *drum rolls* The group of linguistically and culturally challenged people! Please be more conscious of your target profile! Imagine sending an email in English when your target is monolingual and doesn't speak English at all! バカだと思ういます!
CNY eve ☆ 2012/01/23 Went to church in the morning. After which, I walked around Zara in search of my shoes but they don't have the particular design anymore =x However, I saw some other interesting ones which I'll consider cos the color's too similar to the ones I already have. Waited for Ryan to finish church before going for brunch with him. Went to PS Cafe at Dempsey =) Ice Latte Bacon and something. Can't rmb the name but the portion's huge. Love the tomatoes and scrambled eggs though =) Also talked about my summer program. Hoping that I can go to Toronto for the first sem with Xinying and whoever's going too =) Cos Ryan's gonna be in Canada in mid May and he could drive us ard =) Sounds really awesome! I can already imagine Ryan driving us on a road trip. So exciting. However, Xinying and I have a backup plan, just in case we didn't make the cut - we'll go Taiwan for a hols =) And of course, if I'm not going Toronto, I'll have to fund myself a ticket to Auckland to visit Joce and she'll be my personal chauffer =p Back to the topic, we headed to Ion after brunch to get Ryan's clothes. After which, I headed to I12 to meet Rachel and Vanesa for movies. Watched Journey 2 which was decent. At least it wasn't scary and those scary scenes which I thought might happen didn't happen =) Phew! Unfortunately, Gongcha was closed by 3pm so we didn't managed to get our Gongcha at ard 3.40 o.O Sad.. =x Reunion dinner was ok =) After which, cousins and I were watching some new chinese drama series, the one about the time travel like the Korean manga, The simpleton, but with 14 princes. So far, I think no. 10, no, 13 and no. 4 are good princes. Note that I sad good and not good-looking. Then again, they're probably the only ones I can differentiate from. They should all have number tags or different hair styles or what.
